I so appreciate this nomination, Vibrant.  We have previously chit chatted back and forth relating to our blogs, and blogs of others.  It is so helpful to receive constructive comments, especially from talented bloggers such as yourself.  To all of my fellow bloggers, please check out my friend Vibrant at blabberwockying.

Here are the rules for this lovely award:

  • Thank the person/people who nominated you. [ Link Back]
  • Answer the questions from your nominators.
  • Nominate eleven other bloggers and give them eleven questions.

My answers to Vibrant’s questions:

1. If you can transport yourself into one of your favorite books, where (what book world) would you go and why?

I am not a person to read books. When I was employed, I had to read, read and read so I grew weary of it.  Perhaps, now that I am retired, I may sit down with a good book.

2. If you can meet one person (real, imaginary, alive, or dead) who would it be and why? What will you do with them?

I would meet with my mother (passed away in 1968).  We would have so much to talk about while sipping on her favorite Chicory coffee.

3. Do you feel you are at peace with yourself?

Most of the time – yes.  I have no clue as to why or why not.

4. What according to you is the cause of stress in lives of others or in yours?

Things that you or me have no way to control.

5. What makes you feel very good?

Helping others.

6. What is your best memory?

Every day that I wake up and hear the birds sing.

7. Who is your source of inspiration?

My blogging friends and my LinkedIn friends and above all, my husband.

8. What is the role of gratitude in your life?

Taking nothing for granted.

9. What are your top five favorite books of this year?

I honestly have not read a book this year.  I read newspapers, mags, Yahoo and LinkedIn articles.

10. If you can meet one famous person who is alive who will that be?

Tina Turner and Taylor Swift.  Yes, I know this makes no sense so just live with it.

11. Has blogging enriched your life? How?

Very much so as I made new friends and have learned so much.  I feel I have enriched a slice of my life with unforgettable experiences.

and my questions to the nominees are:

  1. What is your favorite type of music?
  2. What is your favorite quote?
  3. Do you like to work out at a gym or are you a home exercise enthusiast or neither?
  4. Do you favor dogs or cats or both?
  5. What were your favorite subjects during your education?
  6. What qualities do you expect from a leader?
  7. Chocolate or vanilla?
  8. What other social networks do you frequent?
  9. What is your favorite food?
  10. What is your favorite gemstone?
  11. What is your favorite sport?

Brotherhood of the World Award!

How exciting!  I have been packing and packing and I am still packing for our trip to Florida.  I felt I needed to regroup and take a well-deserved break.  I brewed a knock em dead jolt of coffee and thought I would catch up on my emails.  Well to my surprise, I found the multi-talented wordscoffeeandlacedresses had nominated me for the Brother of the World Award!  I am extremely honored that I was selected for this award by a fellow blogger that exudes talent.  Be sure and check out her blog at https://wordscoffeeandlacedresses.wordpress.com/author/wordscoffeeandlacedresses/.

Wow!

There are five steps to be taken, which was so nicely outlined by wordscoffeeandlacedresses in her nomination blog to me.

Step 1 is to acknowledge the nomination, which I have done so.

Step 2. This requires me to display the badge of the ‘Brotherhood of the World Award’; which I have proudly displayed.

Moving along to Step 3 is to answer the questions set by the lovely person who has nominated you:

  • Where do you do most of your writing and does it help to keep you focused?

I have my laptop and work area set up on my bakers rack in an area of our apartment, which we use as our office.  This works quite well for me, as I have a place for my coffee. water and my vaporizers.  I also utilize the shelves for my printer and other “stuff”.

  • Do you play music or prefer silence when writing?

I like music or some sort of racket in the background.  I even keep a radio on when I am sleeping.  My hubby’s computer is next to mine, which he uses for various things – games, games, the stock market, more games, sports, games and need I say more?

  • How has blogging benefited you, in terms of personal growth?

Tremendously!  I love this blogging community.  I am a LinkedIn fan, and quite honestly, LinkedIn is taking a back seat to my blogging community.  I also blog on LinkedIn, however, my topics are relevant to the business world and not my personal experiences or fiction.

  • What is your favorite book?

Pay it Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde.  Why?  Because it started a movement of giving.

  • What do you do, when you need to de-stress?

Listen to music, preferably oldies.  My definition of oldies is the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.  I like all music, however, I prefer some genres over others.

And now it is time for Step 5 and that is my selection of nominees.  Drum roll, please!

Be sure to check out their blog.  You will glad I brought these great bloggers to your attention.

And here is the grand finale – Step 5 – my questions and I promise they are easy.

  • How do you spend your relaxation time?
  • What type music do you like best?
  • What is your favorite color?
  • Do you love the wonderful scents and beauty of Spring or are you a person that loves the glorious colors and crispness of fall?
  • If you had to change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

So, there you are – see I told you the questions were easy.

Enjoy the reward and again my special thanks to wordscoffeeandlacedresses for nominating me for this prestigious award.

Cheers!

Hi All! I’ve Been Nominated…for the Liebster Award!

liebster-award

It has been brought to my attention that my blog and I, have been nominated for the prestigious Liebster Award!! I am honored!

Thank you to scribblesandmusings  for nominating me for the Liebster Award! And I encourage you, dear readers, to check out scribblesandmusings and enjoy her beautifully written blogs and I commend her for her caring of animals.  She is truly an inspiration.

The Liebster Award is an online award given to new or undiscovered bloggers by other bloggers. After doing a little research about the Liebster award, one little fact I learned that was interesting is that the word ‘liebster’ is of German origins and  has several definitions: dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, welcome, sweetheart and boyfriend (really?)

Rules for the Liebster Award:

Once you are nominated,

  • Make a post thanking and linking the person who nominated you.
  • Include the Liebster Award sticker in the post too.
  • Nominate 5 -10 other bloggers who you feel are worthy of this award. Let them know they have been nominated by commenting on one of their posts. You can also nominate the person who nominated you.
  • Ensure all of these bloggers have less than 200 followers.
  • Answer the eleven questions asked to you by the person who nominated you, and make eleven questions of your own for your nominees or you may use the same questions.
  • Lastly, COPY these rules in the post.

 scribblesandmusings questions to me:

1.)  If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would it be?  If I could travel anywhere tomorrow, I would take a road trip to Blue Ridge, Ga and enjoy the serenity of the mountains.  I could be easily tempted to stay a few days, no doubt.

2.)  What is the simplest thing that makes you smile?  My husband and my cat taking a nap together.  Soooo cute.

3.)  What do you like about your hometown?  I am using my current hometown, as I haven’t been to my original hometown (Orlando, Fl) for over 20 years.  I love the quaintness and charm of my current hometown, Roswell, Ga

5.)  What’s your favorite chore to do at home? My favorite chore is making my bed.  It is a morning ritual and is done as soon as I get up.  My bedroom looks so complete when the bed is made.

6.)  What’s your favorite book?  I don’t read a lot of books, as spend most of my time online.   However, my favorite book is Pay It Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde.

7.)  What’s the very first thing you would do if you won the lottery?  I would probably move to Blue Ridge, Ga.  I would also donate to my favorite cause, the ASPCA.

8.)  What’s your favorite fruit or vegetable?   Apples are my favorite fruit – preferably Granny Smith apples.  I love all vegetables, with pumpkins being my favorite.

9.)  How many times have you fallen in love?  Several times, through the years.  All of them were worth every minute of it.

10.)  What was your favorite game or toy as a child?  Barbie dolls.  I loved to dress them up.

11.)  What’s your favorite beverage? My favorite beverage is coffee, no surprise there!  I also love red wine an occasional Grey Goose and ice tea (Ice Pick)

Spewing Anew

I felt a change coming on about the way I want to express myself with my blogging.  This won’t be the first or last time I have turned around in the middle of the road.  Could it be I have too much time on my hands or the lull before the storm?

With that said, I have renamed my site “Brew n Spew”, because it has a kick to it, and is more fitting to me, myself, and I.  I mean, just think of the different meanings for the word “brew”!  Fun word, for sure.  Then I thought I wanted something fun, catchy and themey to go with “brew”, and came up with “spew”.  I like spewing – it is kind of like venting.  The two together have a nice ring and hopefully, a little more uniqueness.

The rest of this blog was previously written under “Yes, Another Chapter” and I have retitled it to mesh with my new idea.

Well, it is another hot day in Georgia and I am thinking about the cool and peaceful mountains in Blue Ridge, Ga.  I mentioned Blue Ridge as one of my favorite cities in my last blog.

blue2

Blue Ridge, Ga definitely lives up to its stunning reputation – you know what I mean by seeing those Chamber of Commerce ads that try to lure tourists and future residents to their city.

Blue Ridge is home to the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and Mercier Orchards.  It is also home to beautiful lakes and spectacular mountains. Blue Ridge is part of the Appalachians and the Blue Ridge range. It was tagged that way due to the bluish color that is obvious when viewed from afar.

The history is truly fascinating.  Here is a link if you are interested in delving into the history.      http://theblueridgehighlander.com/history/north_georgia_mountains/fannin-county.php

In addition to the hiking, fishing and ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD SCENERY, there is great shopping, lodging, arts, festivals, entertainment, restaurants, and bars.

An interesting tip about Blue Ridge is that it sits on the North Carolina – Tennessee Line, only 1 1/2 hours north of Atlanta so you can scoot right into the other states and enjoy yourself without being too far from Blue Ridge.

I have just touched on the edge describing the beauty of Blue Ridge and I don’t want to be too lengthy.  Perhaps, it is best to limit my chatting to my favs, which if you read my last blog you will know that my husband and I are restaurant and bar people.

blue5

There are several enticing restaurants and bars, all which have their own mouth-watering cuisine and a large selection of libations.

We have a number one fav and that is Boro Inn Irish Pub.  There is no doubt this is the warmest most inviting pub you have ever set foot in.   The owner is a retired Irish Priest and he is as authentic as the decor.  The decor is items brought over from Ireland as well as relics and eclectic memorabilia contributed by some of the patrons.  We have frequented this charming pub several times and have met most of the family.  We were there last St Patrick’s Day and met the owner’s mother and brothers, which were visiting from Ireland.  They are all very charming and we shared some wonderful conversation about their country, our country, and differences in culture, politics, religion and everything else that would add to the pot of stew.

boro2

It’s pretty obvious we love Blue Ridge, with its beauty and serenity.  It’s a small city with a population of only 1,290, according to the last census, yet is has a sense of busyness and hustle bustle.  The residents are charming and welcoming and strive to keep the city quaint and beautiful.  There is a constant awareness of maintaining the prosperity of the city, yet retaining the small town attitude.

We have considered living in Blue Ridge, where we can enjoy mountains and streams and all that nature has to offer.  Perhaps, we can buy a cozy cabin with a spectacular view and sip coffee out on our deck.  Dreams never hurt anyone and you know, they just might come true.

Oh, let’s not forget to add Boro Irish Pub to the mix of reasons of why we want to live there.  I’ll have a glass of cabernet sauvignon, please.

Cheers!
