About Me

Hello Everyone!

Here’s just a little bit about me!

I was born and raised in Orlando, FL, where I lived for 32 years before moving to the South Florida area. I spent a few years in Ft. Lauderdale and then trekked across the state to Tampa, FL  I didn’t care for Tampa, because I’m an east coast gal, and I moved back to the South Florida area where I lived for 10 years.

After a life-changing event, which was only the beginning of several major changes in my life, I moved to Marlton, NJ. I stayed for 2 years and then returned to Florida, residing in Jacksonville, FL. From there I was relocated to Atlanta, GA by my employer.

I spent 40+ years in the corporate world and retired in 2012. My career industry was commercial insurance where I was an underwriter – yep, one of those people that analyze risks in order to place insurance coverage with an insurance company.

There was a time when I worked a couple of side jobs. One of my side gigs was modeling. While I lived in Orlando, FL, Disney World was being constructed, which created various opportunities in modeling and other forms of entertainment. The other gig was a fleeting activity as a cocktail waitress, which was fun but not my cup of tea. So, I remained in the insurance industry because it was my bread and butter, which carried me until I retired.

To make a very long story short, my last employer was repositioning themselves, which resulted in closing locations and transferring those employees willing to relocate. My family, which consists of my husband, Paul and our cat, Amanda moved to Atlanta, GA.

Well, we found Georgia a delightful place to live and made it our permanent home. We love to trek to quaint little mountain towns, which are only an hour away from our cozy little abode. The drive is lovely, and we love to take in the scenery along the way. Eventually, we want to own a cabin in one of the several small towns we enjoy.

  1. Hi Eugenia, and thank you so much for taking the time to visit and follow me and the storyhounds. 🙂 I’m with you on the coffee – what writer can live without it? It’s the one thing I refuse to give up.
    Loving the chocolate wallpaper!

  2. Cat’s are very knowledgeable, they appear to be minding their own business but they know exactly what’s going on 😉
I love that quote too and try to live by it.
Glad you’re getting time to travel – my husband when asked how he’s enjoying retirement usually quips that he’s so busy he doesn’t know how he ever had time to work! 😄

    • I’m glad you enjoyed it. Blue Ridge is a great place – a quaint little mountain town in a beautiful setting. You’re right about Amanda – she has a very sweet personality most of the time – lol.

    • Wow, how cool. I follow a few bloggers that live in our area. It is an easy drive and we visit Blue Ridge several times a year too. We will be making a trip in the fall.

  3. Not ‘drivel’ at all. I’m so glad you found ‘you’! … It’s nice to have a little more information…. and by the way, I would never even consider being any kind of a waitress because I would spill most of what I served … I am amazed at how well some handle doing it…. Diane

    • I don’t know why but I just saw your comment. Must be the computer gremlins are working overtime. 😉 I didn’t last too long as a waitress. It wasn’t my thing and I am surprised I didn’t drop or spill a tray of food or drinks.

  7. Beautiful blog layout, Eugenia. I really like this About section with your bio. For a retired person your spirit looks much younger than many people in their twenties, thirties…. I see this spirit of yours reflected in the blog, so dynamic and fresh.Good job and thank you so much for the follow!

  9. Hiya. I just read this for the first time, although I have seen your posts often. My youngest son lives near you. He lives in Decatur, Ga and loves it there. He works in the film industry and bought a home up there a little over a year ago since he was traveling from FL all the time for jobs. I visited him last summer and thought the Atlanta area was simply charming. I have to get used to all the hills though. Southern Florida is so flat that waiting in all the Atlanta traffic going up and down on the hills got me dizzy. LOL I keep telling him he needs to build me a Mom pod out back on his property for when I come visit. Oh, BTW, cute picture. I also modeled in my youth. I recognize that pose and the outfit so we must be close in age. Those were absolutely the most fun years. And the music was the best. But I have to confess I love the technology that this time allows us.

    • I was born in Orlando, FL and lived in various cities – Tampa, Hollywood, Ponte Vedra, and the last city was Jacksonville, to name a few. I was transferred to Atlanta by my employer where I retired. Currently, we live in Roswell, Ga, which is close to Decatur. I love it here because of the change of the seasons. I had enough hot weather and beaches and enjoy the cooler weather and mountains.

I loved the 60s and 70s – especially the music. Like you, I appreciate technology.

I’m glad you enjoyed the pic, and I wish I had kept those boots. 🙂 I’m 72 and once I learned life’s not perfect, I have no regrets. Thanks for your comment.

I have a fondness for Lake Tahoe having spent more than 30 years in Sacramento!

    • Thank you for reading and commenting! 🙂 I added some new photos to it with great difficulty. Seems I can’t switch this particular post to WP’s new editor without making a mess of it. I don’t want to lose the comments because they’re the best part of the post! 🙂

  13. Eugenia, thanks for stopping by my blog and the follow. Insurance Underwriting, what fine company did you work for? I spent over 25 years providing markets and coverage for agents in the Midwest – did business with thousands of agencies and am glad to be retired and writing Haiku
