The Half of it All

17399-Glass-Of-Color

Transcribe a mind for its knowledge

Spilled ink not learned in college

A glass half full of the smallage

Fine brandy subject to a tallage

Sad souls sell their knowledge

A glass half empty of the smallage

Creative senses lost in college

Witless souls live that on the edge

Their expiration beyond the ledge

Thank you, John. I am a fan of Ogden Nash and his unconventional style. I hadn’t thought about him until your mention. Thank you for bringing him to my attention.

Love this! You have exceeded my expectations. And thank you for teaching me the word “smallage”.

Well done, Eugenia… you found quite a few words there and worked them in well.

Your poem does tell a story. You have a way with words.
