Tuesday Chatter 87

Please come in and welcome to the Tuesday Chatter Cafe. A place where the clock ticks backward and we can chat about what may or may not happen. We dwell on thought-provoking and undeniably doubtful drivel.

The US population reaches approximately 244,000,000 and the world population is approximately 5,000,000,000. The long period of financial growth in the US is interrupted by a US Stock Market crash, which triggers stock market falls around the world. The gap continues to widen between the average cost of a new house at $92,000 and an average annual income of $24,000. The price of a new car is over $10,000. and to fill up your car is .89 a gallon.

A 5.0 earthquake shakes up 14 states in the US and in Canada, the Great Southern British Storm with hurricane force winds slam southern England, leaving a destructive path.

Kitty litter debuts in the US, as well as prozac. We’ve come a long way, haven’t we? Remember the televangelist Jim Bakker scandal and The Simpsons? The Simpsons made their debut on TV in 1987.

Aretha Franklin, known as “The Queen of Soul” is inducted into the Hall of Fame. Aretha can still belt it out at 75 years old. One of her well-known songs, “Respect” is still heard today. The Fox Broadcasting Company makes its debut, which was founded in 1986. Michael Jackson comes out with his “Bad” album, and Janet Jackson debuts her “Let’s Wait Awhile” single.

Nothing major happened in my life in 1987. I lived in Hollywood, FL and while I loved the city, I didn’t care for the heat. So, I don’t have much yesteryear news about me, but some back in the day trivia – did you know Days of our Lives won The 3rd Soap Opera Digest Awards in 1987?

I wasn’t a daytime soap opera fan and I remember my mother wasn’t into these shows either. We preferred to listen music but some of the soaps have some real longevity for example, The Guiding Light. According to my sources, this show is the longest running soap touting more than 15,000 episodes. The show dropped (The) in the 1960s and is currently known as Guiding Light.

Some of the other long running soaps are As the World Turns, General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, One Life to Live, All My Children, just to name a few. I don’t know what made me think of soap operas, and I don’t have a clue about the number of fans they draw but they obviously are a popular source of entertainment.

Aside from what you think

we could both be wrong

 There’ll be no win

without the big spin

Don’t copy/paste the same old song

Let’s shun insipid trepidation

defining The 3 Pillars of Persuasion

Make the best of your given situation

Life’s not pie ala mode, you know

Don’t ponder the drivel, just give it go

You know when your famous

When you can fold a fitted sheet

Hey, playground bully, you can take a seat!

No listening to your excuse

or taking your abuse

Do not machine wash or tumble dry?

There’s no reward for not being clean

It’s not for me to know and you to ask why

Is it knock knock or knick knack?

It’s the gasp I can’t grasp

I’m hitchin a ride over the moon

Hey, shut the light when you leave the room

Loved your poem Eugenia, and 87 I had my head down sewing in a textile factory, my youngest was 10 and loved Aretha Franklin 🙂 Can’t recall any of those soaps, and Dallas was the only one I watched on British TV.. that was aired over here.. Oh and way back Dr Kildare.. with Richard Chamberlain.. 🙂 but that was much earlier as I remember swooning over him in my teens.. 🙂 lol..
Have a great week too my friend.. and always love your Chats.. xxx ❤

1987 was the year Mary and I moved to Atlanta from Chicago, and the average price of a home is about what we paid.

I used to watch General Hospital with Mary when I was working second shift, back when the whole “Luke & Laura” thing was going on (1979 or 1980). Things are addictive. I remember when it seemed like there were a hundred soap operas during the day. Now there are very few…

Wow, you have lived in Atlanta for quite some time. I assume you must like it here?

I don’t remember much of anything about 87 so I guess my life was dull. Although, I can properly fold a fitted sheet. Maybe because life has been dull at times.

😃 I become very impatient trying to fold fitted sheets. I try to make them somewhat neat, however, not always successful.

I love cat trivia. Where would we be without Kitty Litter?

😃 Great invention, IMO. There are numerous selections of kitty litter and they all tout their brand is the best. I haven’t found one much better than the other. And, our cat is so picky, even about her kitty litter.

“Don’t copy/paste the same old song”…. I have copy pasted it, since it means so much. All about individuality!
