Ode to 2017

321454-2018-Happy-New-Year

Ah, 2017, were you jealous or mediocre

Sheeple unleashed the role of the joker

Capricious ideas lost in a masquerade

But redefined in a game of charades

Those who believe in a soda pop world

Their aha moment lost in a mercurial twirl

Sidesteppers have a paper doll facade

Their selfies litter humanity with fraud

Do we make bad decisions or good stories

Shush the bullies before they have their glory

We gotta watch what’s goin down

Everyone keep their ear to the ground

The dotted line wants its missing dot

Wanting life a la mode is asking a lot

As we embark on the year – 2018

What may unfold remains to be seen

Oh, and before we dip our toe

Let’s follow our cues before the show

Buh bye, 2017 it’s time to go

  1. Wonderful Ode my friend.. You said much within those words May we be thankful for all of that which 2017 taught us, as we step out into 2018 to embrace and create our Dreams..

    • I like your observation. I feel 2017 was it’s time to speak out for those who have been afraid to. Perhaps, not all were legit victims but getting the point across was imperative.

  2. Some poignant thoughts in your excellent poem Eugenia. As you rightly say in amongst 2017’s ups and downs there are lessons for us. Have a great 2018 and I hope it brings you much happiness.
