Just a Number-Maybe Not

Forty, the product of four and ten

Let’s ponder where we’re going

and where we’ve been

Forty, the product of fifty minus ten

 Memories of again and again

or of every now and then

Forty, it follows thirty-nine

hmm, once upon a time

40, the age for celebration

or uninvited depression

40, appears to have a reputation

its significance worth a notation

Yes, for me forty was a good year

I’ve no reasons to shed a tear

 Forty, though you haven’t asked

your future’s not your past

I like the line ’40 has a reputation’. It is what made me choose the prompt.

    Thanks for joining in!

    Namaste Eugenia πŸ™‚

I’ve heard it said life begins at forty although I’m still not convinced.

Certainly your pen retains its lively youth.

I have enjoyed this poem on a significant number and the way poetry and math are combined to evoke past memories. Very nice!

I think 40 was a great milestone that when I reached it I didn’t feel it.. 50 how ever was much better than expected and 60, well that positively glowed πŸ˜€

Well, I hope you are feeling like I do “most of the time” – only half my age – until I look in the mirror! I’m sure that the mirror is much kinder to you than me! I’m guessing 37 years of playing lots of racquetball has helped me? Ha!

I feel good for my age, and like you “most of the time” – feel half my age. I am very fair and being born and raised in Florida, I loved and spent a lot of time at the beach. Too much sun eventually takes its toll and I limit my sun exposure now.

Currently, I live close to Atlanta and enjoy the milder temps and being close to the mountains.

Vitamin C creams and sunscreen are my best friends. 😎
