BrewNSpew Cafe – December 17, 2018

the eve of all eves

reindeer in their finest form

busy elves laughing

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.
— Calvin Coolidge

By the way, here is what’s happening at the BrewNSpew Café

On late Mondays or early Tuesdays, I distribute a post titled BrewNSpew Café and one of the highlights is“word/expression of the week”. I make my very own wacky poem with my interpretation of the word.

You’re welcome to join our talented community and challenge yourselves by composing your own creation using the week by week included word. Please keep your post to 300 words or fewer.

Link your blog to mine with a Pingback. To do a Pingback: Copy the URL (the HTTPS:// address of my post) for the current week’s Challenge and paste it into your post. You may also place a copy of the URL of your post in the comments of the current week’s Challenge post.

The prompt will close 5 days from the date of my post. I will post a week after week Wrap-up of posts shared by our kindred bloggers.

How about we be innovative and have fun!

  1. Love the haiku and that delightfully delicious looking photo too… By the way, you look absolutely elfish in your Santa hat, Eugenia. ❤ Christmas blessings and love. xo

  2. Namaste Eugenia 🙂

Enjoyed the haiku – clever play on words, it brought a smile. If Dudley Moore’s experience was anything to go by, I’d love to be an elf! 😀

‘Blather and bosh’ – excellent opening line! You’re certainly in the festive spirit this year! Tis infectious! lol 🙂

    Namaste 🙂

    • Awww, thank you, Dewin. Yes, I have a lot of festive spirit this year and for no specific reason. I’m just enjoying the time of the year and thinking of the days when the season was simpler and not so commercialized.

Being an elf would be fun, wouldn’t it!?

      Cheers! 🙂

No problem…enjoyed the verse, thank you 🙂 Being an Elf would be immense fun…just imagine what ideas could be made manifest with all that magic! 🙂

Regards a less commercialised Christmas – I was discussing much the same thing with a friend this evening and we both agreed the true spirit of the season – whether that be either celebration of the Winter Solstice or Religious in meaning, depending on one’s sensibilities – has diminished in modern times. We thought the reasons were many and varied but certainly commercialisation has been the main driving force behind its dilution. Yet the bottom-line is that people forget they always have a choice – they are free to choose how they celebrate, we don’t have to be subservient to current convention. People have free-will and can exercise personal judgement and/or take responsibility for their choices. It is wonderful to exchange gifts but equally it is just as fulfilling spending quality time with friends and family, after-all, gifts may have a cost and arbitrary value attached to it but on the whole have little or no real worth.

Whether a special reason for your excitement or not, I think you’ll have a wonderful festive season this year Eugenia: the best Xmas ever! 😉 I’ll look forward to hearing all about it here on your Blog!

Have a great week. Take care.

        Namaste 🙂
