Welcome, coffee and espresso friends and anything in between. It’s delightful to see you here at the BrewNSpew Cafe where the gossip can cause an arched eyebrow. By the way, the news, well you can take it or leave it.

Word of the week –

escapism – (noun) – habitual diversion of the mind to purely imaginative activity or entertainment as an escape from reality or routine.

Synonyms

fantasy, reverie, romance, fancy, imagination, woolgathering.

“How did I escape? With difficulty. How did I plan this moment? With pleasure.”
― Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo

 there’s skepticism about

realism, naturalism, and scientism

there’s absurdism about

racism and sexism, even ageism

there’s optimism or pessimism

about capitalism, communism,

socialism, and religion, etc. etc.

we mustn’t forget about

egoism and materialism

thus the need for escapism

yet, methinks there’s hope

for idealism, functionalism, quietism,

romanticism, and even bonism*

*the doctrine the world is good but not perfect

and so it goes

And more to come, friends here is what’s happening at the BrewNSpew Cafe!

On Mondays, I publish a post titled BrewNSpew Cafe. One of the highlights is I select a “word/expression of the week”. I make my own wacky lyric with my interpretation.

You’re welcome to join our talented community and challenge yourselves by composing your own creation using the week by week included word. Please and thank you for limiting your post to 300 words or fewer.

The prompt will close 5 days from the date of my post. I will post a week after week wrap-up of posts shared by our kindred bloggers.

Hmm, makes sense, Reena. Some don’t want to escape from their addictions because that is their comfort zone.
