Jen Goldie - A little this, a little that, some real and some imaginings.



“Now sit tight on my knee and tell me what you see.”

“I see a horse walking.”

“What else?”

“She’s walking in a forest.”

“Is it a nice forest?”

“Oh! Yes.”

“Is she happy or sad?”

“Oh um, she looks kind of sad to me.”

“Really? Why?”

“She has her head down.”

“I can see that too. But what about the others?”

“The others?”


“Oh, I think they’re trying to make her happy.”

“But if she’s so sad how can they help her?”


“Yes dear?”

“I’m sad too.”

“Why? You have me and we’re here together looking at this lovely picture.”

“I know. But…”


“But Mommy’s not.”

“I have a little surprise for you.”


“ Before your Mommy left, she made this for you.”

“She did?”

“Yes. Just for you. To cheer you up.”
