September 22—First Day of Fall. The Sun crosses the celestial equator, heading south. This is known as the autumnal equinox and marks the beginning of the fall season in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern. September 22 is known as the astronomical fall where September 1 is known as the meteorological fall. Which meteorological seasons are based on the annual temperature cycle.
Fall astronomical season – the Earth’s tilt is moving away from its maximum lean toward the Sun; its rays are aiming directly at the equator.
Fall meteorological season – Begins September 1 (September, October, November); ends November 30

Pingback: Cosmos | Breathing Shallow Poetry
Eugenia,
I used to read the poem about Winkin’, Blinkin’, & Nodd to our children. It was a sweet way to end the day as my wee ones got ready for bed. It be so wonderful to have one more of those precious moments. Although I held on to every moment I could, I had no idea how fast they would go nor how much I’d miss them once they were gone. Lovely little verse, my friend!

Thank you, Cathy! I remember Wynken, Blynken, and Nod as a child and for some reason, it came to mind when I was writing my poem! There is a lot of history related to it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wynken,_Blynken,_and_Nod

Yes, the nursery rhyme is “Wynken, Blynken, and Nod”. I don’t why it came to mind while I was writing this. 🙄

Didn’t even know that was how it was spelled:-). I was a wee one when that one was floating about my head.
