So young and naive
in love, we believed
met at the altar
never to falter
said I do, I do, I love you
Too soon it faded
our ties vacated
ah, so sad, too bad
it’s time to close the door
open windows give more
Life’s too short to wait
I’m not one to hate
don’t like feeling so blue
I bid adieu, said toodle-oo
time to start life anew
So shoo to the blues
it’s my turn to choose
as I embark on each day
I pave my own way
I’m doing it my way
my aim’s a future so bright
wishing for peace and light
amid the bright and sunny
amongst the witty and funny
ah, the color of golden honey

I am amazed how we choose our mates (“in love”) at an age when we know little of ourselves, and expect it to last forever.

Me too, VJ! I admire couples that celebrate anniversaries in the double-digits, whether married or not married.

There is something to be said for not rushing where fools will tread.
I almost made and ‘I do’ error… glad I called it quits before tying that knot!
Happy now with what I’ve got! On the forever road 😀

Fantastic poem Eugenia. Why stay sad and blue when life has so much to offer.

Eugenia, a relatable poem, beautifully expressed. ❤ Been there. Life is too short to spend it making each other unhappy! 🙂
