    Your prompt was timely for me — I haven’t been online for a couple of days as I got hit on the head — not by the tree limbs dancing in the wind forming a swaying canopy above — but by a mirror falling on my head in the house! 🙂

    Hello-

    I saw Louise’s comment on using the prompt. Can anyone join?
    Here is what I wrote.

    Friends are like a canopy
    The open sides gives everyone
    room to stretch and grow
    and a haven to find warmth
    Occasionally one friend or another
    floats away
    But the canopy is expansive
    reaching out across the miles
    to hold the windswept
    miles diminishing with
    each kindness and act of love.
    The friends of the canopy
    are ones that can listen
    or tell you truth
    when you really want to hear it
    But they know your soft places thus
    they will be gentle with their words.
    Harsh winds and warm breezes
    will blow through the canopy
    to each life’s challenges and joys
    But mere weather is not bold enough
    to break the lines holding
    the intersecting hearts
    and all that lies between them
