Tuesday Chatter 60

292944-happy-new-year

If we were having coffee, I find there is nothing more thought-provoking than useful and useless chatter. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee entices as it drifts throughout the room. So sit back and relax because we’re bidding adieu to 2016 and welcoming 2017.

The end of the year is drawing near

Times of sadness the why is not clear

Times of gladness we hold so dear

Wonders of nature continue to amaze

Universally cosmic unparalleled displays

Chaotic fractals produce ever-changing plays

Persona pretends to keep us strong

Uphold the right and correct the wrong

Let the ceilings of life woebegone

Here’s to our health and may we have wealth

Here’s to love and those we hold dear

Here’s to a safe and successful New Year

If we were having coffee, I find there is nothing more thought-provoking than useful and useless chatter. Hot coffee, so strong you can stand a spoon up in it. The fireplace is aglow and sharing its warmth throughout the room. This is going to one of those chats.

It’s a wet and cold day in my neck of the woods. Not frigid cold but that damp cold that makes you want to sit by the fire and sip on a warm beverage. Add a nip or two of your favorite liquor or liqueur and savor the time well spent.2015-11-23-16-50-40

I was strolling about our premise, taking in the seasonal changes, and it was just last week there were golden leaves adorning the trees. Now that mother nature has undressed the trees, and they seem fragile and sad – but not for long! Soon they will be covered in glistening snow enhancing their beauty as they put on a magnificent snowy display.

tree-with-snow1

Sally Sue noticed the seasonal changes, as well. She wants to hang out in the garage and stay warm and dry.  Since she’s been sheltered for thirty years she’s not too keen on dips and dives in the temperature and snow – no way! She doesn’t seem to realize she’s a car. It’s an ongoing saga with her, you know.

Let’s move along to some fun stuff since I don’t want my posts to put my readers in a funk. December is a fun month, whether or not you celebrate Christmas. There’s an array of events to keep your days filled with cheer, especially if you enjoy freshly baked treats.

Saturday 17th – Maple Syrup Day

Sunday 18th – Bake Cookies Day

Monday 19th – Oatmeal Muffin Day

Tuesday 20th – Sangria Day

And did you notice all of these days feature food or beverage?  On Saturday we can enjoy, french toast, pancakes, and waffles – thanks to the maple trees that supply the sap that becomes our delicious syrup. And here comes Sunday and what a better way to spread wonderful aromas throughout your abode, and that’s baking cookies. Your kitchen will be the center of winter festivities, which the whole family can enjoy.

As we approach Monday, don’t think you’re out of the kitchen yet because I’m ready for oatmeal muffins. Hot, yummy and definitely filling. Oh, and perfect with hot chocolate or my favorite, a steaming hot cuppa coffee.

Now it’s time to sit back and relax. After three days of cooking and baking, it’s time for a reward and a delicious fruity sangria is a perfect choice. Originating from Spain and Portugal, it’s a refreshing iced outdoor treat and when the temp takes a dip, sangria is a great way to warm up indoors. 🍷🍷

11Speaking of Spain, beBee’s been very busy. Postings of holiday photos, articles, and good wishes adorn my feed.

Shown below is a couple of pics of Christmas trees in the lobbies of the hotel where we stayed for our anniversary. I shared these pics on beBee to add to the cheeriness. There is definitely a feeling of holiday spirit on beBee. We bees are all abuzz for the holidays.

Hey, what’s a good word

One that’s not absurd

One that’s meaningful and mindful

One that denotes caring and sharing

One that shows compassion and passion

One that reflects empathy and sympathy

One that’s genuine and sincere

It’s a busy month because we’re getting close to the end of the year and there are just a plethora of things to accomplish. Do you feel things have to be in order at the end of the year, only to start the new year with the same “stuff”? Let me have your thoughts on this, please.

If we were having coffee, I find there is nothing more thought-provoking than useful and useless chatter. The fireplace is aglow with dancing flames and of course, a fresh pot of coffee is brewing.  I’ve got a feeling this is going to be one of those chats. So, pull up a chair and stay a while.

As we near the end of the year

Memories of yore can seem so dear

Yet, as we reflect on what’s passed

A plethora of errors may leave us aghast

But, we have a choice and we have a voice

And even better, we have a pen

We share our ideas and our thoughts

A variety show that can’t be bought

Here’s to blogging, writing and those with a yen

To spread their word with the almighty pen

Thank you for your support from Eugenia, Amanda, and Sally Sue – Oh and my hubby Paul, too.

If we were having coffee, I find there is nothing more thought-provoking than useful and useless chatter. So come join me by the fire while we sip our coffee, laced with cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg. I’ve got a feeling this is going to be one of those chats.

🌹

I’m getting an early start on Tuesday Chatter because we’ll be on the road Tuesday. Yes, on our way to Blue Ridge where we are celebrating our fourteenth wedding anniversary. I must say, there’s never been a dull moment, thus far. My husband missed his calling as a stand-up comedienne. He is definitely the king of guffaws.

🌹🌹

We’re toying with the idea of taking Sally Sue, or I should say she is taking us to Blue Ridge. She and I chatted the other day about the trip and she is anxious to get out and around. You know my husband and I have no say-so anymore because Amanda, our cat, and Sally Sue seem to rule the roost. Both of them are such divas and oh, so demanding! Our scenario reminds me of what goes on at ZuZu’s Barn. Claremary has her hands full with Roxie and her persnickety ways. Stop by ZuZu’s Barn and you’ll understand what I mean.

Well, enough cat/car talk. Let’s move on to bebeeland. We’re busy bees with the oncoming holidays. We’re a diverse group of bees and I’ve seen nothing but respect for each other’s religious beliefs. Even the political discussions remain at a dull roar. A healthy debate is good at sparking interest and even better if it’s civil. I’m proud to bee a beBee bee! Plus I can’t wait to see pics of Christmas in Spain. It’s a joy to see how people celebrate the holidays in other parts of the world.

I don’t know where to start with recognizing fellow bloggers. This is my favorite feature, however, the most challenging part of my posts. How can you not appreciate a favorite follower that shares that same appreciation of your work? Well, I was caught by surprise by Snippets of a Traveling Mind posting a Holiday dedication to several of his followers, myself included. This definitely put a smile on my face.

And, I have some outstanding blogs that I am sharing with you! 😉

A little fun with December and the Days of the Year – Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 is Mitten Tree Day

How to celebrate Mitten Tree Day
In order to celebrate this holiday, the best thing to do is have a bunch of mittens ready, and set them on our Christmas tree, one per each branch until we either run out of branches to use for holding the mittens, or we run out of mittens to put on the branches of the tree. Then when we’re ready we can take our best set of mittens off the tree and head on out to enjoy the wintertime fun!

If we were having coffee, I find there is nothing more thought-provoking than useful and useless chatter. This is one of those chats.  So fill up your cup, pull up a chair and let’s chat about the good, the bad and the in between.

Let’s start with the bad and get it out of the way. You know, let’s not and say we did. I don’t want my posts to be the bearer of bad news. So moving forward, this is Tuesday Chatter, a weekly event where you can leave the link to your blog giving others a chance to appreciate your talents. Here’s the link for the how-tos. And now for the good. Well, there’s a lot of good so let’s spread it around. Positive vibes are contagious and easy to share, plus they’re free. And remember smiles are more attractive than frowns.

C’mon dears

Spread some cheer

Make it a banner year!

And the in-between can be anything we want it to be as long as we are amused – agree? But, let’s keep it positive.

2015-11-23-16-50-40

Our little family, here in Georgia, are readying ourselves for the holidays. We had a peaceful Thanksgiving at our house – nothing special but nice. We put up our tree last night while enjoying a fire in the fireplace and hot chocolate. I truly enjoy this time of the year as it stirs up fond memories from the past. Especially, while decorating the tree because each piece I hang on the tree has a special meaning.  Now, we can sit back and enjoy while watching our feline stare at it with her big blue eyes. She has a little smirk and a mischievous look in those eyes. She obviously has plans that we don’t yet know about.

Today is a gray day and supposedly, we are going to get that much-needed rain. I took a stroll this morning and stopped to chat with Sally Sue. I noticed that wintry feeling is setting in but the trees seem confused.  Some are still dressed in their fall garb, while others have lost all of their leaves.  Mother nature is very befuddling  again this year, a seemingly ongoing saga.

20160313_085955
Comfort Inn Lodge lobby  Blue Ridge, Ga

By the way, we have a trip planned for Dec. 6, which is our wedding anniversary. We are going to Blue Ridge for a couple of days and hopefully the fires have settled down. The fires have made it hard for the business owners and have impacted their tourism. It’s so unfortunate this is happening during one of their peak times of the year.

Moving on to more of the in-between, I find more great bloggers every day. It’s difficult to keep up because there are only 24 hrs in a day to squeeze in all that I want to accomplish. Here is a good example of why I need more hours in a day – Musing of a Puppy Doc (poetry behind a white coat). Phoebe’s blog is just fabulous. Her posts are well written and her site is well structured. You won’t regret stopping by and taking a look.

A traveler. A hugger. A laugherLess a giggler. A 5-foot-5 mound of poofy black hair. An owner of a cat but also kind of a dog person.

Much to our dismay another dry day

Nary a drop of water from the sky

Soon a resource money can’t buy

Wildlife threatened as a write

Seared trees a dreadful sight

Let’s hope a miracle comes our way

You know life is full of give and take. which I believe giving more than we take deserves considerable thought. In fact, we can celebrate giving on Tuesday, Nov. 29th – Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday takes place on the Tuesday directly after American Thanksgiving, which in turn takes place on the 4th Thursday of November. Giving Tuesday was created to help the “giving season” get started, reminding people that there is more to holidays than consumerism and commercialization.

A stellar idea, in my opinion, and I believe every day should be considered a day to give, rather than just one day a year.

1084beBee is so full life and entertainment. With the consistent swarm of newbees, beBee becomes more interesting every day. The influx of new ideas from all different cultures is astounding. Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Years…what an exciting time of year this is!  I hope you have a chance this season to get closer to those you care about and together create some wonderful memories.

The coffee is brewing and I am anxiously awaiting that first steaming cup. A couple shakes of cinnamon in my java and I am good to go. This is BrewNSpew, the home of useless and useful chatter. Stick around coz this is going to be one of those chats.

We cruised around town the other night – we, meaning my husband Paul, Sally Sue and I. We were one hot looking threesome.  I mean for being in the over sixty club, we are anything but your typical retired folk. And Sally Sue, well she also fits the part being 64.

We sat outside at one of the cafes on Canton St. The smoke from the fires was blowing in a different direction, giving us a chance to enjoy the outside. We sipped on our favorite beverages and people watched. I love to people watch, don’t you? It’s one of my favorite pastimes, indeed. Canton St. is quite charming and draws the trendy and well-to-do folks from around town so the entertainment is five star.

Now for a little change of pace, did you know that November 22, 2016, is Go For a Ride Day?

“Go For A Ride Day encourages you to get out into the world – hop on your bike, into your car, or simply get your walking boots out of storage and go on a trip. Don’t worry too much about where you’re going, just enjoy the journey. What with all of the cell phones and emails constantly intruding on our lives, we can all agree that everyone needs some time to just get away from it all and feel free every now and then. And what better way to do that then to just go for a ride!”

What is your favorite mode of transportation? Perhaps, back in the day modes like a sleigh or horse-drawn carriage or by horse? Or other types of transportation such as boat, plane, helicopter, car, motorcycle, rollerskates, skateboard. etc. Even a nice walk will get you to where you’re going and you can enjoy nature along the way.

Hey my friend take a break

it’s your life for Pete’s sake

Take it easy and stop a while

Be sure and take time to smile

Look around and take it in

coz this moment will ne’er be again

Hey, don’t forget to join in on Tuesday Chatter, a weekly event. Stop by and leave a link to your blog or a favorite post for others to enjoy at Tuesday Chatter.

Here’s a little surprise for you. I’m not one for creative recipes so I am sharing a yummy recipe from one of my beBee friends, Mamen Delgado.

Lentil Hummus

Here you have the ingredients:

◦ 400 gr (14 oz) of cooked lentils, washed and drained

◦ 1 garlic

◦ 40 gr (1-2 oz) of roasted sesame seeds

◦ 1 tablespoon ground cumin

◦ 30 gr (1-2 oz) of lime or lemon juice

◦ 70 gr (2-3 oz) extra virgin olive oil

◦ Salt to taste

You put all the ingredients at the same time and you can use a blender to make the puree. Or if you use the Thermomix, put all the ingredients in the glass and program 30 seconds at speed 5-10. Here is the link to Mamen’s buzz. Note, the recipe is also in Spanish. https://www.bebee.com/producer/@mamen-delgado/hummus-de-lentejas-lentil-hummus-espanol-english

Enjoy the recipe and enjoy your holidays.

If we were having coffee, I find there is nothing more thought-provoking than useful and useless chatter. This is one of those chats.  The coffee is hot and bold so come on in and relax and let the stories unfold.

The elections in the U.S. are over. I can’t honestly breathe a sigh of relief but I am going to remain positive and hope Americans will unite and move forward. I have read several posts on the elections, not only on WordPress but other social sites, as well. Everyone has the right to voice their views and no better way than the power of the pen. I was impressed by many of those well-written posts that were respectable, civil and well researched. This brings to mind a worthy quote by John F. Kennedy, which I feel sends a very important message to America.

My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country – John F. Kennedy

Moving right along, can you believe it is already the middle of November? Where has this year gone? This has been a monumental year, to say the least. And you know, it ain’t over yet.  As we approach the holidays, let’s reflect on family and friends and the true meaning of the season. By the way for those of you that write novels, November is Novel Writing Month! Don’t let November go by without taking your greatest novel idea and turning it into a reality! Let your talents be known.

You know, while we were traveling, I fell way behind and had to catch up on my blogging, beBee, LinkedIn and a whole bunch of other things. My poor hand, that I fell on, is on the mend, but it still slows me down.  With that said, I am determined to move along as I get better each day. In fact, I added another challenge to my event list.

I am joining in The Writer’s Quote Challenge, a weekly event. Each Thursday, the hostess(es) will post a weekly prompt. Either make up your own sayings or use a quote from a famous author that you find gives you inspiration. Last week’s event can be found at https://haddonmusings.com/2016/11/10/all-new-writers-quote-challenge/. I enjoy these events because it is a way to engage with others and have fun.

This brings to mind what better blogger to feature than Bernadette and Haddon Musings. I can’t say enough about this blog – it reminds me of a variety show because she offers something for everyone to enjoy. Stop in and say hi to Bernadette. haddonmusings

I live in the small town of Haddonfield, NJ. I am at an age in my life when I seem to spend time thinking and musing about life. These musings are usually stimulated by my walks through Haddonfield, my reading of books and fellow bloggers, and my interaction with my group of fabulous family and friends.

Oh Mr. supermoon

Please light up my room

I promise as I sleep

there’ll be ne’er a peep

Even deep in slumber

there’ll be no sawn lumber

Just knowing you’re near

gives me no reason to fear

Oh, my man in the moon

you make me swoon

You’re presence in the sky

gives me a natural high

I may seem a little crazy

yeah, my mind a bit hazy

But I feel the time is nigh

to know the reason why

That cow jumped so high

Hip hip hooray, today is Pickle Day!

It’s Pickle Day, everyone! Did you forget? Oh, then you must think you’re in a right pickle, but don’t worry. Be as cool as a cucumber, because there’s still time to munch on some pickles, yet.

No matter whether you like Gherkin, Dill, Lime, Bread-and-Butter, Branston, Cornishon, Hungarian, Polish, Danish or Swedish pickles, made in either in brine or vinegar, you can be sure these fermented morsels are so much more than mere hors d’oeuvres.

OMW, what to do! I almost left out Sally Sue! You may not care but she does. In fact, we’re going to get out and around today, depending on the smoke in our area. We’ve had some pretty rough days because of the smoke from the wildfires in North Georgia. Our fav city, Blue Ridge is sitting in a cloud of smoke as I write. It’s a bit scary and I feel sorry for the folks that live in the threatened areas. Let’s pray for rain – perhaps a rain dance will help?

And for those of you that are familiar with Sally Sue, via my blog, she is still part of our family. In fact, she was a bit nervous when she found out we were selling one of our cars. But all has turned out well and she’s back to her supercilious ways. Now that the weather is cooler, the three of us will enjoy sporting around town.

Before I get to beBee news, did you know that today is Cook Something Bold and Pungent Day?

Cook Something Bold and Pungent Day is intended to celebrate the use of herbs such as garlic and hot pepper to promote health and longevity.

So, get cooking and let your imagination become your taste buds.

Cook Something Bold and Pungent Day is an event that leaves little to the imagination. In other words, cooking something original, spicy and even a bit offencive is the entire intent of this day. Still, it is not meant to merely represent a disgusting concoction of disparate ingredients.

Hey, let us know what you may have concocted and please share the experience and your recipe if you dare!

beBee is becoming even busier than before, which is exciting to me. The ambassadors had their monthly conference call today. This is a great idea because we learn and share and ensure we all are on the same page. I contributed a post to beBee, which has drawn a lot of attention and great engagement. You may enjoy it and note your can enjoy beBee without being a member. However, you can not make comments if you haven’t joined.

Tuesday Chatter 51 – And Thank You!

If we were having coffee, I find there is nothing more pleasing than useful and useless chatter. This is one of those chats that deserves a steaming cuppa coffee with pumpkin spice and everything nice.

The pleasure is all mine

that you took the timepicmonkey-image73

to stop in and chat

about this and that

My, myself and I

and BrewNSpew

give our sincere thanks

to all of you

I was taking a walk about the premise, coffee in one hand and my phone in the other.  Another splendid fall day here in our neck of the woods and I couldn’t resist taking a pic of this gorgeous tree decked out with red leaves. I also stopped by to check on Sally Sue because we’re preparing to take a trip to Blue Ridge for the weekend, prior to Halloween. I’m looking so forward to this trip and so is Sally Sue.We’re going to razzle-dazzle with the best of them while cruising through this quaint little mountain town. I am hoping to find many opportunities for photo shots. To be continued…

Fall arrived in my neighborhood

You know, I am amazed at the talent on WordPress, and I am very pleased to be a part of the blogosphere, sharing thoughts and interlinking with others.  We have become an invaluable source for information indeed. Thus my reason for featuring a blog or two once a week. I feel it’s like sharing the wealth.

With that said, I am featuring jeffheggie. The Life of a Father, Husband and Entrepreneur. Jeff’s blog is as he describes offering a variety of topics. Please stop by and show your support.

The header of my blog says, The Life of a Father, Husband and Entrepreneur. I use that because my post may jump around a bit. I enjoy writing about the business side of life but the father and husband part of my life are by far the most important to me. That’s why one of my categories is Heggie Life. This is the category that is more focused on family and events than business.

If you are looking for a class act blog, then I found it for you oaktownvibes.  There is so much going on in this blog, there is not a chance of you becoming bored.  It has a bold and outstanding look that is very appealing.

I’m just an ordinary guy from Oakland California. I am absolutely in love with my city and the people. If the city of Oakland could be embodied by one person, I believe that person would be myself. One thing I love about Oakland is that everyone is of the same race, the human race. The vibe there is amazing, everyone is accepted, no matter who you are or where you come from. When I was growing up, I didn’t see color, people were judged based on how they treated others and the passions they pursued.

beBee and me, we’re still going strong. You know their theme color is orange and here’s the reason why.

bee4

Orange:

Sociable, optimistic, enthusiastic, cheerful, self-confident, independent, flamboyant, extroverted and uninhibited, adventurous, the risk-taker, creative flair, warm-hearted, agreeable and informal.

Enthusiasm: Orange is optimistic and extroverted – the color of the uninhibited.

Rejuvenation: Orange helps to restore balance to our physical energies.

Stimulation: Orange is not as passionate or as excitable as red, but it is stimulating, particularly to the appetite – the worst color to have in the kitchen if you want to lose weight.

Courage: Orange helps us to take account of our lives, to face the consequences, to take action and make appropriate changes, and then to move onward and upward.

Vitality: Orange has a more balanced energy than red, not as passionate and aggressive, but full of vitality.

Since Halloween is just around the corner, I thought a few tidbits of Halloweeny things might be of interest.

Wed., Oct. 26th is Pumpkin Day

What many people don’t know is that the pumpkin is actually a plant from the new world, like all squash, so the image of pumpkin jack-o-lanterns in front of ancient medieval homes is just plain wrong. These are an all American (And South American) plant, and the jack-o-lantern at Halloween is a distinctly New World thing.

Thur., Oct. 27th is Black Cat Day

Nothing is quite as elegant as a black cat—like a miniature Amazonian jaguar, they doze atop the highest point in the area, waking for several hours daily to prowl around hunting for a tasty morsel. But black cats and kittens are often overlooked when animal shelters are looking for new homes, and can be at the shelter much longer than they should be. So why is this?

Sun., Oct. 30th is Candy Corn Day

You either love it or hate it, there’s little variance between the two. Candy Corn, some describe it as waxy and sickeningly sweet, and others just can’t seem to get enough of this seasonal treat. Whether handed out in small packets at Halloween or served in heaping bowls on grandma’s table, Candy Corn is an icon of the season, and you know that Autumn is here when it starts showing up.

Mon., Oct 31st is Halloween

If we were having coffee, I find there is nothing more pleasing than useful and useless chatter. This is one of those chats that deserves a steaming cuppa coffee that’s clear as mud.

Hey, did you know today is Wear Something Gaudy Day? While you are sitting at your favorite cafe enjoying that wake-me-up cuppa joe, you can don your gaudiest ensemble.  Don’t miss out on your chance to show off your wildest taste in clothes!

boa3

“The point of Wear Something Gaudy day is to stand out, so choose brightly colored fabrics with intense patterns. Maybe you can haul down your grandmothers drapes for the day and be seen in a shocking paisley brocade, or dig up those purchases you made that you didn’t realize were awful until you got them home. Wear Something Gaudy Day is your opportunity to show off the bright garishness that has passed through the annals of fashion history! Even throwing on a eye-searing boa can be a simple way to celebrate, or you can just wear colors that clash. Everyone has pieces in their wardrobe that just don’t go, so get in there and make peoples eyes waggle!”

Of course, Sally Sue wanted to wear a boa (not the snake) while cruising down Canton Street in downtown Roswell. Canton Street is an interesting thoroughfare as it is popular with the look-at-me types.  I haven’t figured out why, except that Canton St. is lined with eclectic cafes, bars, and cute little shops. It’s quite entertaining to sit outside at one of the cafes and people watch. Of course, Sally Sue is raring to go and join in with the “in crowd”. She’s definitely a show-off.

You know how much I love poems, as I write them myself mainly because I like to mess up words and stretch their meanings to the max. Well, with that said, I am featuring a blog that displays some excellent poetry. flammablepie I know you will be pleased with my selection. Stop in and take a look for yourself.

Each morning I stare into my black tea,
Waiting, hoping for my thoughts to break free,
To flow like the rivers do to the sea,
But alas, my mind has nothing for me.

And, I am featuring another great blogger this week. I have good vibes from his posts and see a bright blogging future for areyoustillreading Please stop in show some support.

Okay so I received a notification yesterday stating that I’d hit 100 followers. Now I know compared to some of you ‘bigwig’ bloggers that that is minuscule and you probably gain that in a week or a month, but I was a little surprised that I’d hit treble figures🙂. -The Bloggerman

Autumn leaves adorning the trees

Marigolds and gourds adorn our land

Making it stunning and Oh so grand!

A cool crisp breeze startles the trees

Blanketing the past with golden leaves

Our steps now are hidden where we walked

Our friends, the leaves – not ones to talk

But, soon the wind will inevitably blow

Revelations of what we didn’t want to show

and surely didn’t want you to know

I’m Eugenia and it’s time to put a wrap on this chat. So long from this week’s Tuesday Chatter and have a great week!
